Fundraising for CAMBOFEST (Film and Video festival of Cambodia) continues: day F

We started a fundraising campaign for CAMBOFEST: Film and Video Festival of Cambodia a few days ago, and we'll be continuing through the end of May. Luckily, the first contributors have arrived already!

CAMBOFEST's aim has always been to promote the re-emergence of a viable media and movie industry in Cambodia, an LDC (lesser developed country). The media sector experienced near-total destruction during the country's civil war and Khmer Rouge regime, and only today is the industry making inroads towards a recovery in this developing democracy.

CamboFest was held for its 3rd (2009) edition, in the vintage 'Royal' cinema house in Cambodia, a pre-Khmer Rouge era Cambodian cinema hall which CamboFest brought back to life with a custom screen installation, generator, and all digital projection system. Before CamboFest 3.0, not even longtime local expats living in the area realized that the 'Royal' had once been a cinema house (of course local Cambodians remembered it well). The Royal had been used as a warehouse for water containers for years, ever since closing as an active cinema hall in 1986, and CamboFest staff only just found it by accident while scouting another vintage venue nearby. I'm a WINNER!!!!!

Can't believe my luck these days; things seem to be DEFINITELY turning around! For example, I'm now down here at the Tuol Sleng Internet cafe, near the infamous former Tuol Sleng prison S21 [now a museum to the Cambodian Holocaust], where the Khmer Rouge held and tortured thousands of innocent men, women, and children. I'm just chillin'and drinking a Pepsi after teaching my wealthy government minister English student on the other side of town--the one who lives in a Sky blue mansion behind razor wire--and getting ready to hit Babel studios where our short demo / fundraising trailer of the Jarai hilltribes is about to be finished .... ...when I check my email to find that I have (once again!) won a MAJOR LOTTERY!!!
